COTRAL is the city’s bus company, and you will see their large blue buses around the city. This is the least expensive form of transportation into and out of the area. All buses have buttons that can be pushed to signal approaching stops and usually run from early morning (about 7:00am) to late afternoon.
For bus routes, schedule and any other sightseeing information, you may ask the tourist office located just one minute from the school near the town gate.
Bus tickets
A single ticket costs € 1,30 and must be purchased at Tabacchi shops, bars or news stands before getting on the bus. This ticket needs to be validated (stamped) immediately upon entering the bus utilizing one of the yellow validation machines. Fines are very expensive for those caught without a valid ticket.
Taxis
There is one licensed shuttle service available in Tuscania that can take up to 8 people per trip. Cost is dependant on the distance traveled, as well as the itineraries; the service can be a bit expensive.
TRAINS
The Italian state railroad is called FS ('Ferrovie dello Stato'). The main train station in Rome is Stazione Termini and, as all the main train stations in Italy, has departure and arrival boards, showing departure/arrival times, main stops, delays and track numbers. A 24 hour phone line provides train information: 89 20 21. Be aware that there is a fee for this service for both landline telephones and cell phones. You can view timetables and also purchase tickets online by visiting the Internet website at www.trenitalia.it in English.
IMPORTANT: YOU MUST VALIDATE YOUR TICKET BEFORE GETTING ON THE TRAIN! YELLOW BOXES ARE SET UP RIGHT BY EACH TRACK ESPECIALLY FOR THIS PURPOSE. IF YOU FORGET TO DO SO, THE CONDUCTOR WILL MAKE YOU PAY A FINE!
