NON-EUROPEAN UNION STUDENTS The Decree passed on the 11th of December 2006 by the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding the new procedure instituted for the request for the "Permesso di Soggiorno" (Permit of Stay) for all purposes - tourism, study, work, family etc. has remained unchanged. The Permit of Stay is a mandatory document and especially necessary for all students who wish to travel in Europe while in Italy. The legalization of all students coming to LDM through the student visa and subsequent permit of stay processing is mandatory in order to attend the program. In other words, after the student obtains the student visa (which is mandatory) from the Italian embassy in their home country, the student is then required to get a Permit of Stay - which is obtained once the student has arrived to Italy. The student must have BOTH the visa and the Permit of Stay to be legal in Italy. For the Fall Semester 2010 the processing of the documents for the Permit of Stay will be once again handled by Eduitalia Association. The link for the semester is http://secure.eduitalia.org/LDMTuscania/Fall2010. The fees for the Permit of Stay are as follows: Registered letter containing permit of stay documents Euro 30,00 Cost of the permit of stay Euro 28,60 The total cost of Euro 58,60 is to be paid in cash/credit card at the meeting (during the first week of school) where the following documents are to be collected:
In addition to the 58,60 euro (which goes to the government), there is a processing fee (which goes to Eduitalia) of 42,00 euro. The 42,00 euro will be debited from each student's credit card by Eduitalia Association only upon consignment of the documents for the Permit of Stay. This debit will go on the credit card which was used during the on-line registration process before leaving the home country. So the TOTAL cost for the Permit is 100,60 euro.
EUROPEAN UNION STUDENTS We wish hereby to supply you with the information required for all European students enrolling in programs with LDM in order to regularize their period of study in Italy with the Immigration authorities. As of the 11th of April 2007 students from the European Union staying in Italy for less than 3 months have no legal obligation. This means that they do not have to request the permit of stay nor declare their presence upon arrival in Italy. Students staying in Italy for more than 3 months must register with the "Anagrafe" office of the Municipality where they reside. Students will be required to fill out a form and should take the following documents with them:
