The most recent addition to the LdM Florence campus is an entire floor of the Palace of Palla Strozzi, built in the Renaissance, containing a student lounge and 14 newly renovated classrooms. This addition on Piazza Strozzi is conveniently close to the other LdM facilities. It now links LdM to another historical area of central Florence which is also a kind of hub for the arts and commerce. Nearby are Piazza della Repubblica and elegant Via Tornabuoni. Palazzo Strozzi contains three research institutes and Florence's most dynamic center for exhibitions and contemporary art. The Odeon theatre, the historic movie palace on the corner, is where LdM hosts the chief Student Orientation sessions, at which representatives of community institutions like the U.S. Consulate are speakers. The new space quickly won over its first classes. LdM is proud of this new extension, where Liberal Arts courses now take place in a quadrangle of rooms that happily combine the latest word in efficiency and updated technology with a magnificent historical setting. |
